No, but if you have any particular areas of interest or skills, we can certainly use them. We will train program volunteers “on the job” (adaptive skiing, kayaking, cycling, water-skiing, etc.) Come with an open mind and an open heart and together we can change lives!.
Volunteer positions vary widely from teaching sports such as skiing, kayaking, cycling, and sailing to assisting with fundraising events, newsletters, marketing, our website, and general office duties. Our clientele includes children, adults, and wounded military personnel.
We invite individuals of any age to come out to volunteer, but if you are under the age of 18, you must be accompanied by an adult and/or get permission prior to the event or activity.
If you have a special skill, please inform us of the specialty. You never know what we might need, whether it's creating marketing materials, writing press releases, or teaching our participants life skills. So register and let us know how you can help us to impact lives.
Once you have completed the Volunteer Registration form, you will be added to our database and be kept abreast of all programs and needs via email. You can also check out our website at www.adaptiveadventures.org and you will see the calendar of events and indication of program needs.
Many of our program events occur in the evenings and on the weekends. Please check the dates and times of our events. We are confident that you will find events that fit your schedule. Many other support functions for administration, marketing, and fundraising can be done at home or during non-working hours.
For sporting events, the Program Coordinator for each event will notify you prior to the event with all the information regarding location, recommended clothing, included amenities, etc. For all other volunteer activities, you will be thoroughly informed of the services required prior to starting work.
There is no fee to volunteer. You will have all reasonable expenses covered while on site at an event including training and learning materials. Other costs such as transportation, parking, meals, etc. are handled on an event by event basis. Generally volunteers are responsible for the cost of local transportation and parking.
